Chicago and a gay fire department employee finalized their settlement of a lawsuit alleging he was sexually harassed by his deputy chief.
The city, the deputy chief, and the employee told the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Wednesday that the city council approved the settlement on Dec. 14. The settlement amount is $515,000, according to a statement signed by the city clerk.
