Gas Stove Makers Fail to Defeat Class Actions Over Emissions

BSH Home Appliances Corp., Whirpool Corp., and Samsung Electronics America Inc. failed to convince a federal judge to toss out proposed consumer class actions alleging they knew their gas stoves emitted unhealthy pollutants and failed to warn customers.

Judge John W. Holcomb of the US District Court for the Central District of California denied the bulk of the stove makers’ motion to dismiss because consumers adequately pleaded that the stoves they bought weren’t fit for cooking due to pollutant emissions.
