Garmin, Coros Wearables Face Patent Claims by Israeli Biotech

Garmin Intl. and Coros Wearables Inc. were hit with separate lawsuits by biotech company Cardiacsense Ltd. alleging they are infringing on its patent for a device for measuring training activity.

Their products infringe US Patent No. 7,980,998, entitled “Training and Instructing Support Device,” issued on July 19th, 2011, Cardiacsense alleges in the complaints filed Wednesday. The patented device includes a compass “and optionally gyroscope,” allowing the measurement of “linear acceleration” along three axes, the complaints allege.
