A proposed class action against GameStop Inc. over its alleged recording of chats on its website and sharing of the transcripts with third parties was dropped Monday, according to a notice of voluntary dismissal filed in US District Court for the Central District of California.
Miguel A. Licea alleged in the lawsuit that GameStop violated California’s Invasion of Privacy Act by creating transcripts of user conversations without obtaining prior consent.
The notice of dismissal gave no reasons for the move. Licea’s attorney Scott Farrell, founder of Pacific Trial Attorneys APC, declined to comment.
