Gamer and online personality Ryan Lord can proceed with his defamation lawsuit against a rival gamer on his home turf in Illinois rather than in North Carolina.
Lord alleged in the lawsuit that Jonathan Leo Smith posted allegations of sexual misconduct about Lord on social media and messaged others to harm him at his home address in Illinois.
Lord, whose online identity was Ohmwrecker, claimed he lost followers, sponsors, collaboration opportunities with other online streamers, viewership, and income as a result of Smith’s defamatory postings.
