“Fudge Covered” Oreos—despite their name and label art showing a chocolate-coated cookie—lack the iconic confection’s dairy-based ingredients, a new proposed federal class action against Mondelez Global LLC alleges.

Dictionaries, historic recipes, and a confectionary science textbook confirm that dairy fat is indispensable in fudge, New Yorker Christopher Leonard alleges in a suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
