FTC, California Sue Clean Energy Firm in Loan Program Case (1)

A Northern California clean energy financing company will change its practices to settle federal and state claims it engaged in unfair business practices in marketing home improvement projects, the Federal Trade Commission and California announced Friday.

The complaint alleges Ygrene Energy Fund Inc. and many of its contractors failed to secure consumers’ express informed consent to use their homes as collateral and other misconduct to induce homeowners to use the Property Accessed Clean Energy Program.
