Free Speech Suit Over Utah App Store Act Ends After Law Changes

First Amendment challenges to Utah’s App Store Accountability Act brought by the Computer & Communications Industry Association and teenagers in the state has ended, according to a joint stipulation of dismissal.

Recent amendments to the law strip Utah’s ability to enforce it, but leave a private right of action allowing individuals to sue, according to the notice filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Utah. State officials lack the authority to enforce the law directly or as an asserted basis for liability under any other statute or authority, the stipulation said.
