“Penny Dreadful” creator John Logan, executive producer David Nevins, and Showtime Networks Inc. were accused of copyright infringement Thursday by a Los Angeles woman claiming to have originally created the show’s protagonist.
Anna Biani filed her complaint in the US District Court for the Central District of California alleging direct copyright infringement against Showtime and the individual defendants for allegedly lifting the character Vanessa Ives from Biani’s posts on the online role-playing community forum “Murder & Roses: Victorian London Crimes & Scandals.”
