A settlement over a breach of Fortra LLC’s GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer software that leaked the personal data of “approximately” five million people was preliminary approved by a federal judge.
Under the deal Fortra and several healthcare companies that either used its software or were associated with ones that did would pay $20 million into a common fund. Fortra would also have to demonstrate that it made sufficient improvements to its data security plans, according to court documents from the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
