Former Walgreens Executive to Turn Over Allegedly Stolen Data

A former Walgreen Co. employee who allegedly took proprietary and confidential information to competitor L2 Partners LLC must return the company’s data because Walgreens would otherwise face irreparable harm, the Northern District of Illinois said.

The company alleges former employee Aaron Peters illegally downloaded information onto a personal external hard drive before his departure. Walgreens is likely to succeed on the merits because the facts suggest Peters owed a fiduciary duty of loyalty to the company, which he breached when he took the data, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Wednesday.
