Former Virginia Town Official Gets Identity Theft Acquittal

A former director of the economic development authority of Front Royal, Va., and Warren County convinced a federal appeals court to acquit her of an aggravated identify theft charge.

A district court should’ve dropped Jennifer McDonald’s identity theft charge because that deception wasn’t at the “crux” of the wire fraud she was already charged for, the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit said in a Thursday opinion.
