Former Ohio AG Sues Governor to Reinstate $300 Jobless-Aid Bonus

A group of unemployed Ohioans, represented by a former Democratic state attorney general, sued Gov. Mike DeWine (R) Tuesday seeking to reinstate the extra $300 jobless-aid benefit the state discontinued near the end of June.

DeWine’s administration has a legal duty under state and federal law to “secure all possible federal pandemic unemployment benefits available to unemployed Ohioans,” the complaint, filed in a state court in Cleveland, alleges.

The suit, filed by former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann (D), follows similar challenges in states like Indiana and Maryland, where Republican governors opted out of expanded pandemic unemployment insurance benefits prior ...
