Former New Jersey acting attorney general John Jay Hoffman was nominated for the state Supreme Court by Gov. Phil Murphy (D) on Monday.
Hoffman, who served under Gov. Chris Christie (R) from 2013 to 2016, would replace Justice Lee A. Solomon (R), who must retire from the bench this year due to hitting the state’s mandatory retirement age of 70. Hoffman, who is currently general counsel at Rutgers University, must first be approved by the state Senate.
