Former Attorney Arrested for Allegedly Lying to Bankruptcy Court

A former attorney who is on the hook to the IRS for more than $3 million in taxes has been arrested for making false statements and submitting false records to the US Bankruptcy Court.

The US Department of Justice announced the arrest of John Roesser, a former partner of several multinational law firms, in a statement released Tuesday.

Roesser, 52, earned substantial income while in practice from 2013 to 2018, and resigned from the New York bar for misappropriating funds in June 2020, the US said.
