Foreign Teachers Forced Into Shakedown Scheme in NYC, Suit Says

Unsuspecting foreign teachers were caught in a predatory shakedown scheme under the guise of housing for an exchange program, according to a suit filed against nonprofit groups and the New York City Department of Education.

Teachers in the Dominican Republic were sold on a program that would bring them and their families to New York and cover the cost of their visas, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
