Ford Sees Trims to Defective Engine Consumer Class Action Claims

Ford Motor Co. trimmed some claims in a consumer class action brought by car owners and lessees, but the car company will have to face many of the federal and state-based claims that the company advertised vehicles with defective engines, a district court ruled.

Thirteen named plaintiffs brought the suit in 2023, alleging Ford violated federal and state laws by selling and leasing cars with defective 1.0L EcoBoost engines, which included the Ford Fiesta, Ford EcoSport, and Ford Focus.
