Ford, Goodyear Subject to Suit in N.Y. Following Virginia Crash

Ford Motor Co. and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. are subject to suit in New York stemming from a fatal automotive accident in Virginia, because their in-state contacts are closely linked to claims against a local repair shop.

New Yorker Jose Aybar Jr. bought a used Ford Explorer in 2009 that had been manufactured in Missouri and initially sold to an Ohio dealership.

He took the vehicle to US Tires and Wheels of Queens LLC in June 2012. The shop inspected and installed his Goodyear tires, which were designed in Ohio and manufactured in Tennessee.
