Ford Defeats Class Action Over Defective Transmission Warranties

Ford Motor Co. convinced a federal judge to dismiss a proposed class action alleging the auto giant failed to provide the warranty coverage required under California’s Emissions Warranty.

The state warranty mandate requires coverage up to 15 years or 150,000 miles for parts that affect regulated emissions. But the US District Court for the Southern District of California on Monday said the named plaintiff failed to attach a declaration from the California Air Resources Board stating that transmissions—the allegedly defective part—are covered under the state law.
