Forbes Media Hit With Suit Over Video Data Sharing With Facebook

Forbes Media LLC disclosed users’ personal information and video-viewing histories to Facebook Inc. without their consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a new federal class action said.

Salomon Passariello alleged that Forbes Media installed computer code on its website that records how users interact with the website and sends the resulting information, including about videos viewed on the website, to Facebook, now known as Meta Platforms Inc.

The VPPA prohibits video providers from disclosing the personal information and viewing history of its users and customers, the lawsuit said.
