Food Workers Seek Approval of $1.75 Million Deal in Wage Case

Food service workers are asking a federal court to approve a proposed $1.75 million settlement with KBR Services LLC—and several additional federal contractors—for working 80-plus hours per week without receiving overtime pay.

The 343 workers eligible to split the settlement provided food for Afghan evacuees located at Fort Pickett in Blackstone, Va., in furtherance of the US Department of Homeland Security’s “Operation Allies Welcome” initiative.

The parties reached a proposed agreement in the Fair Labor Standards Act case after extensive settlement negotiations, and the motion for approval is unopposed, said lawyers for the workers in a memorandum in support ...
