Food for the Poor Sheds Data Breach Proposed Class Suit, for Now

Charitable organization Food for the Poor Inc. for now doesn’t face a proposed data breach class action after a federal court identified deficiencies it said required dismissal of the case.

The employees and donors—who sued after a September 2024 cyberattack leaked confidential, sensitive, and private information—attempted to advance at least four different theories of negligence. That’s a shotgun pleading that must be dismissed, Judge Ed Artau of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida said.
