Foley & Lardner LLP must defend claims that it strung a legal recruiting firm along into believing it would receive a larger fee for placing a highly profitable partner, a Massachusetts Superior Court judge held.
LegalBriefs Inc., a Massachusetts-based recruiter, claims it had an agreement with Foley to remove the compensation cap in their contract for a lateral partner placement since it was bringing in an attorney alleged to have one of the largest client networks in Boston. Foley denies agreeing to waive the cap.
