Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier (R) is telling local police agencies that they can ignore a federal court order blocking enforcement of Florida’s state-specific immigration criminal penalties.
“I cannot prevent you from enforcing” the immigration laws “where there remains no judicial order that properly restrains you from doing so,” Uthmeier wrote in a Wednesday letter to sheriffs, the state law enforcement department, the highway patrol, and local police chiefs.
