Florida School Avoids Suit Over Expulsion of Pro-Palestine Group

The University of South Florida escaped claims by members of a banned student-led organization that they were subjected to baseless sanctions due to their support of Palestinians and diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.

The plaintiffs failed to “allege any fact” supporting their argument that USF officials conspired with Jewish donors to discriminate against pro-Palestinian groups, Judge Steven D. Merryday of the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida said in a Jan. 9 order dismissing all claims.

Tampa Bay Students for a Democratic Society and its members have until Jan. 30 to file an amended complaint.
