Florida Recreational Pot Ballot Group Sues Over State Delays (1)

A cannabis industry-backed ballot group is suing the Florida Secretary of State, claiming he is illegally preventing a recreational pot petition from getting to voters.

Safe & Smart Florida filed a petition in the Florida Supreme Court Thursday asking the justices to compel Secretary of State Cord Byrd (R) to certify that the group’s constitutional amendment petition has received enough signatures by sending a letter triggering review by the state attorney general. Without that letter the measure can’t reach the 2026 ballot.
