Florida Judges Rebuked for Campaign Remarks, In-Court Outbursts

A pair of Florida state judges received rare public reprimands Wednesday, with state’s high court upholding suspensions from the bench for unethical campaigning and courtroom outbursts.

Polk County Judge John B. Flynn and Seminole County Judge Wayne Culver stood at the podium normally reserved for Florida Supreme Court oral arguments. Instead of pleading their cases, they were silent while Chief Justice Carlos G. Muñiz (R) read orders castigating these locally-elected judges and warning them that future punishment for any ethical breech would be severe.
