Florida Judge Admits Ethics Violations, Phony Endorsements

A Florida judge faces potential suspension after admitting to fake and partisan endorsements, and other campaign-related ethics violations.

In Florida Supreme Court filings North Port Richey-based Jennifer Dubbeld agreed that her 2024 race for Sixth Circuit Judge pushed past boundaries into impermissible partisan campaigning.

Her campaign website and Facebook page included photographs of public officials and attorneys who hadn’t endorsed her candidacy, according to a recommendation of discipline filed with the high court on Monday. She also posted endorsements from Republican US House members, Laurel Lee and Gus Bilirakis, involved in partisan campaigns—things not permitted in Dubbeld’s ostensibly nonpartisan race. ...
