Florida Hospital System Hit With Doctor’s Bias, Contract Claims

A pediatric doctor claims South Broward Hospital District discriminated against him based on his age when the South Florida healthcare system refused to renew his contract and replaced him with a younger physician.

Juan Carlos Martinez asserts the hospital, which does business as Memorial Healthcare System, also violated his contract by failing to provide 12 months of severance after terminating his employment without cause, according to his complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Memorial didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
