Florida East Coast Railway Sued For Alleged FMLA Violations

A former railroad employee is suing Florida East Coast Railway for alleged violations of the Family Medical Leave Act.

Meldrick Jerry filed a complaint Tuesday in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida against FEC. The complaint states that Jerry was employed by FEC for approximately 10 years until his termination on August 31, 2023. Jerry claims he was wrongfully terminated in retaliation for taking approved medical leave under the FMLA and for making safety complaints protected under the Federal Rail Safety Act.
