Florida Appeals Judge Gets Ethics Charge Over Prosecutor Texts

A Florida appellate judge’s texts that insulted the defense bar, pushed for the death penalty, and influenced prosecutors in a case where she testified have drawn her formal ethics charges.

Bronwyn C. Miller, who sits on the Third District Court of Appeal, violated judicial cannons covering integrity, making statements that interfere with cases pending before her, and preserving public confidence in courts, Judicial Qualifications Commission Special Counsel Henry M. Coxe III said in a notice of formal charges filed with the state high court Thursday.
