First Unum to Face Covid Disability Claims From Ex-CBS Producer

First Unum Life Insurance Co. must face claims from a former CBS investigative news producer who alleges the insurer improperly denied her long-term disability benefits after she was diagnosed with long Covid.

It’s disputed whether Eneida DelValle was disabled after her short-term benefits ended, which is a “genuine issue of material fact,” Judge Laura Taylor Swain of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said in a Tuesday opinion.
