Fired Lazard Trading Technology VP Loses Hindu Asian Bias Appeal

Lazard Asset Management LLC was properly granted dismissal without a trial in a senior vice president’s religious, race, national origin, and familial and caregiver status discrimination lawsuit, the Second Circuit ruled Wednesday.

The former trading and technology engineering executive was unable to prove Lazard’s nondiscriminatory explanation that he was terminated in a workforce reduction because he was a poor performer was a pretext for bias based on his Hindu religion, Asian Indian descent, or Indian national origin, a unanimous appeals panel said.
