Fired CIA Analyst Advances Retaliation Claim Over Bad Review

A former CIA worker over the age of 50 sufficiently stated a retaliation claim against the intelligence agency, but saw a federal trial court dismiss the bulk of his age discrimination suit.

Michael Caleca said he was put on a performance improvement plan in February 2021 after receiving a series of unwarranted criticism and unfair treatment from his supervisors. Caleca subsequently filed an age discrimination complaint with the EEOC. He claims that his supervisors learned of this complaint in or around June 2021, then retaliated by giving him a failing review on the performance plan.
