Filshie Clips Maker Trims Claims in Suit Over Migration in Body

The manufacturers of Filshie Clips, medical contraceptive devices made of titanium clips that place pressure on the fallopian tubes, trimmed defective design and manufacturing claims but couldn’t dodge failure-to-warn claims in a patient’s suit.

Nicole Franks sued Coopersurgical Inc., along with its distributors and other associated companies, after discovering her clips had migrated. She alleged the clips had a higher migration rate than the company reported to the Food and Drug Administration and that the company failed to report adverse events to the agency.
