Figma Trained AI on User Data Without Consent, Class Action Says

Figma Inc. trained its generative artificial intelligence models on proprietary data that its millions of users uploaded to the platform, an intellectual property lawsuit filed Friday says.

The software company “never asked its customers for permission,” and its actions contradict promises made over the years not to use consumer data for its own purposes, including to train AI models, according to the proposed class action complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
