LoanCare $5.9 Million Data Breach Deal Gets Court Nod (Correct)

Fidelity National Financial Inc. and LoanCare LLC would pay $5.9 million to settle allegations they negligently failed to protect the personal information of around 1.3 million people that was exposed in a 2023 data breach, under a deal given initial approval in a federal court.

Class members would be eligible for payments of up to $1,500 to reimburse them for ordinary losses arising from the breach, $5,000 for extraordinary losses, or a cash payment of $100, according to the plaintiffs’ Jan. 17 motion for preliminary approval of the settlement.
