Fidelity National Financial Sued Over November Data Breach

Title-insurance provider Fidelity National Financial Inc. failed to protect the personal information of customers that was exposed in a November ransomware attack, a proposed federal class action said.

Teneika Tillis alleged that Fidelity failed to encrypt her sensitive data or implement reasonable data-security measures that were recommended by the Federal Trade Commission and data-security experts.

Information exposed in the breach likely included names addresses, loan information, financial information, and Social Security numbers, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
