FEMA Cut Security Funding for ‘Sanctuary’ States, Suit Claims

The Federal Emergency Management Agency made deep cuts to counterterrorism and security funding for so-called “sanctuary” states and instead gave the money to states with policies it deems more favorable, multiple states claim in a lawsuit filed Monday.

FEMA on Sept. 27 issued award notifications showing that some states’ allocations under the Homeland Security Grant Program would be cut by more than half of what the agency initially said it would award, claim the plaintiffs, which include 11 states and Washington DC.
