CFL Technologies LLC failed to convince an Illinois federal judge to impose sanctions on a light bulb manufacturer that allegedly sold and didn’t retain materials relevant to ongoing patent litigation.
CFLT filed its motion to compel and request for sanctions against Feit Electric Co. as part of a five-year-long discovery dispute in a case concerning nearly 1,200 models of compact fluorescent light bulbs sold by Feit that CFLT alleged infringe its patents.
The US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois denied both CFLT’s motion to compel and sanctions request on May 12.
