FedEx Suit Alleges Military Members Denied Equal Paid Leave (1)

Federal Express Corp. violates federal law by failing to pay employees who are members of the military for service-related short-term leaves of absence despite paying other workers for similar types of leave, a new class lawsuit filed in Atlanta charges.

The practice is at odds with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, which requires that military service-members who take leave from jobs with civilian employers to perform qualified military service are treated no less favorably than workers who take comparable forms of short-term absences, the suit says.
