FedEx Freight Inc. had a valid reason for firing a Black freight handler after he complained about discrimination by a White coworker, a federal court said.
FedEx said that it fired Joey Dawson because he made threats during its investigation into his complaint against Chris Lampron.
Dawson brought federal and state claims against FedEx for race discrimination, sexual harassment hostile work environment, and retaliation—and only a state hostile work environment claim can move forward, Judge Jamel K. Semper said in an unpublished opinion for the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
