FCC Affirmed on Wide Voice’s Overbilling of AT&T, Verizon

Local telecommunications company Wide Voice LLC failed to shake off a Federal Communications Commission ruling that it made “unjust or unreasonable” charges to long-distance carriers.

The FCC didn’t err when it found Wide View reorganized its operations to avoid a rule prohibiting collecting charges from long-distance carriers through “access stimulation"—artificially inflating call traffic connected over their local networks to collect higher fees from long distance carriers, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled Thursday in an opinion written by Judge Richard A. Paez.
