FCA, Consumers Blasted Over Tactics in Faulty Gearshifter Case

A federal judge criticized both consumers and Stellantis for selectively omitting unfavorable procedural details in their briefs as part of a proposed class action alleging the car maker equipped certain vehicles with faulty gearshifters.

“Hiding the ball in litigation is not a path to victory in federal court, but a sure-fire way to end up in disciplinary proceedings,” Judge Sanket J. Bulsara of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York said Tuesday.

“As far as this Court is concerned, both sides have lost all credibility.”
