Farmers Insurance to Face Class Suit Over Doctor Billing Limits

Two proposed classes won certification in a suit alleging consumer fraud claims against Farmers Insurance Group based on no-fault auto insurance policies that arguably violated Minnesota law, according to a federal court ruling.

The proposed classes’ theories are that Farmers violated Minnesota’s No-Fault Insurance Act and made it impossible for consumers to correctly compare various auto insurers’ policies by secretly limiting the providers from whom they could seek treatment, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota said. And those theories predominate over individualized questions, it said.
