Fairlife, Coca-Cola Class Action Over Alleged Cow Abuse Trimmed

A federal judge narrowed a proposed class action against Coca-Cola Co. and its dairy unit fairlife LLC that claimed the companies misled consumers about animal abuse at its facilities with a name and logo that implied the cows live fairly.

The Feb. 13 ruling from Judge Otis D. Wright II keeps alive several claims based on its cartoon-cow logo coupled with its name. Wright, of the US District Court for the Central District of California, said the challengers pleaded enough for parts of those claims, which include breach of express warranty and a violation of the state’s false-advertising law.
