Facebook Denied Review for Alleged Discriminatory Ad Algorithms

Facebook lost a bid to get the California Supreme Court to consider a class-action lawsuit alleging the social network advertising algorithms discriminate against women and older users.

Justices during their weekly conference denied a request by Facebook, now known as Meta Platforms Inc., to review an appellate ruling that the company wasn’t immune from suit under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. The provision immunizes platforms from lawsuits based on the content posted by their users.
