Expert Testimony on Acetaminophen-ADHD Connection Gets Tossed

Parents alleging acetaminophen use during pregnancy can cause children to develop attention deficit hyperactivity disorder suffered a blow after a federal judge said their expert’s causation opinion was unreliable and inadmissible.

“To be sure, given the state of the science” the plaintiffs’ expert “confronted long odds in offering her opinion on causation,” the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said Wednesday. “Nevertheless, the weaknesses in her report, confirmed by her deposition testimony” mean it can’t be used at trial.
