Experian Faces Suit Over Unpaid Credit Report Software Royalties

A software company sued Experian for allegedly failing to pay required fees under a licensing agreement for two computer programs that estimate an individual’s credit status.

Ataeva LLC alleges Experian Information Solutions Inc. breached the terms of its contract—and thus infringed its copyright—for use of Ataeva’s TAPS—Total Annual Plastic Spend—and Yield Metrics software. TAPS is used to estimate a consumer’s spending based on credit bureau data, while Yield Metrics is used to estimate the annual interest rate of a consumer’s debt, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
