Experian Information Solutions Inc. won its bid to arbitrate a customer dispute alleging the consumer credit reporting firm wrongly associated him with a US sanctions list targeting terrorists, narcotics traffickers, and other international criminals.
Manuel Alvarez brought the class action against Experian in June 2019, claiming the credit giant violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by inaccurately identifying Alvarez as someone listed on the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control List. OFAC is responsible for administering economic and trade sanctions against international actors in furtherance of US foreign policy.
